Pat Hartwell is a Research Health Science Specialist with Health Service Research and Development at the Durham VA Medical Center.   She has worked with the VA as a project coordinator or an interviewer since 1995.  Pat joined the Pathways Interviewer Team in March 2007.  She is also currently Project Coordinator for several other research projects with HSR&D.  Prior to 1995 she was part of the SUPPORT study team at Duke University Medical Center.  Her training and background are as a middle school science teacher and Hospice Volunteer.  Pat enjoys doing things with her husband, children, grandchildren and friends.  She and her husband designed and built their home with many energy efficient characteristics.  She loves to problem solve, make things and help others.  She and her husband love to travel.  They have lived a year in Holland and a year in Australia, and have made many trips to Central America.
